Lena is pregnant with Ole's child. Late one night, Lena wakes Ole and says, 'I tink it's time!' So Ole fired up the John Deere tractor and took her to the hospital to have their first baby.
She had a little boy, and the doctor looked over at Ole and said, 'A son! Ain't dat Great!' Well, Ole got excited by dis, but just then the doctor spoke up and said, 'Hold on! We ain't finished yet!'
The doctor then held up a little girl.. He said, 'Hey, Ole! You got you a daughter!' She's a pretty little ting, too.'
Ole got kind of puzzled by this, an then the doctor said, 'Holey Moly Ole, we still ain't done yet!' The doctor then delivered another boy and said, "Ole, you yust had yourself another boy!" Ole was flabbergasted by this news!
A couple days later, Ole brought Lena and their 3 children home in the self-propelled combine. He was real serious and he asked Lena, 'How come we got tree on the first try?'

The Death of Common Sense
This still holds true today with Covid being around
THE DEATH OF COMMON SENSE
Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend by the name of Common Sense who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.
He will be remembered as having cultivated such valued lessons as knowing when to come in out of the rain, why the early bird get the worm and that life isn’t always fair.
Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend more than you earn) and reliable parenting strategies (adults, not kids, are in charge). His health began to rapidly deteriorate when well intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place.
Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate, teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch, and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student only worsened his condition!
It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer aspirin to a student but could not inform the parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.
Finally, Common Sense lost the will to live as the Ten Commandments became contraband, churches became business and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense finally gave up the ghost after a woman failed to realise that a steaming cup of coffee was hot, spilled it in her lap, and was awarded a huge settlement.
Common Sense was preceded in death by his parents, Truth and Trust, his wife, Discretion; his daughter, Responsibility; and his son, Reason.
He is survived by two stepbrothers; My Rights and Ima Whiner. Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.
If you knew him pass this on, if not you can only give him a second death. Rest in Peace Common Sense, We're gonna miss you.

Book Review: Five Decembers by James Kestrel
Wow! This book is amazing. Fast paced. Never slowed down. It took us all over the world, all during World War II.
It had great characters, including a few that you didn't like at all. The main character, Joe McGrady, never gave up, no matter what happened to him.
This is definitely a book that you should read, when it comes out. You'll enjoy it, as much as I did. I rarely read a book that I don't want to put down. I usually give myself a break while reading. This book, I just wanted to keep on reading.
When I was told about this book, it was mentioned that it would be great. They didn't lie. Thanks to Charles Adai and Hard Case Crime for the opportunity to read the ARC. I truly enjoyed every minute of it.
Also, isn't that a wonderful cover. I hope that it becomes the official cover for this book.

Another shot of winter for southern Manitoba beginning Sunday.
A
low pressure system is forecast to move through southern Manitoba on
Sunday, bringing falling temperatures, rain, snow, and local blowing
snow continuing into early next week. Precipitation will begin Sunday
morning in the southwest and spread eastward through the day. While most
areas can expect a few hours of light rain, by Sunday evening most of
the south will be seeing steady snow as temperatures fall below the
freezing mark.
The snow will continue through Monday and Tuesday
as the system stalls over northwestern Ontario. Final snowfall
accumulations look to be highly variable, especially in the southeast
where temperatures will hover near zero, but early indications have
broadly 10 to 20 cm across southern Manitoba with potential for higher
local amounts. Blustery north winds gusting to 60 km/h on Monday may
also produce areas of blowing snow. The system finally moves off in
earnest late Tuesday, leaving scattered flurries in its wake for
Wednesday along with a gradual return to more normal temperatures.
Additional warnings may be required as the system approaches.
Please continue to monitor alerts and forecasts issued by Environment Canada. To report severe weather, send an email to MBstorm@canada.ca or tweet reports using #MBStorm.

Book Review - A Little Hatred by Joe Abercrombie
What a wonderful book. It was great being back in the world of The First Law. We met new characters, as well as seeing some of the older ones too.
The story was fast paced. Lots of action. I found it hard to put down. The more I read, the more I enjoyed what I was reading.
We had a few bloody battles. Very bloody battles. People fighting for their lives. Victories and losses. A lot of losses. There were even a few humorous moments too. Almost laugh out loud moments.
All in all, a great book. Looking forward to reading the rest of this series. I will also have to go back to the three books that are in between and finish those off.
One more note, these covers are awesome.

Homemade Hamburger/Hotdog Buns
So, I've been making my own hamburger and hotdog buns. I use my bread machine to make the dough. When it's done its thing, then I shape them, let them rise and bake in the oven.
The recipe that I use has 2 different versions for the dough. The first time I made them, I used the adjusted version. The dough, I found, was a bit stiff and hard to shape into the proper shape for hamburger buns. The second time that I made them, I used the first recipe. The dough is much softer and easier to work with.
Here are a few pictures of the Hamburger buns.
After the hamburger buns had risen for 15 minutes
Hamburger Buns for Two Pound Bread Machine
1 – 1/2
Cups water
1 – 1/2 Tablespoons olive oil
3 – 3/4 Cups
bread flour
1 – 1/2 Tablespoons sugar
1 – 1/2 teaspoons
salt
1 – 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
12/12/17 Note: When I updated to my current, I found that the hamburger buns turn out better with a slightly different recipe. Here’s what I’m using now. Use the one that works best for you.
1 ¼ Cups water
1 ½ Tablespoons olive oil
3 ¾ Cups bread flour
1 ½ Tablespoons sugar
1 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons rapid rise yeast when using the quick cycle OR 1 ½ teaspoons active dry yeast yeast when using the regular dough cycle
Follow the instructions that came with your bread machine in terms of which ingredients to put in the bread machine first. (For my machine, I add the liquids first.) Use the dough setting.
When the dough is done put it on a lightly floured board and divide into three equal sections. The goal is to get 9 hamburger buns of appropriate size and shape. When you’ve got the buns the right size and shape put them on a greased cookie sheet. Remember not to put them too close together as they’ll get larger as they cook.
Cover the buns with a clean, lightweight kitchen towel and let the buns rise for half an hour. Then remove the towel and put the buns in a 400 degree oven for 10 to 15 minutes.
Lastly, here's the link to where I found this recipe.

A Poem from an old Email
