5 Minute Cakes in a Mug
I was sent a recipe to make a chocolate cake in a mug. It seemed so silly, that I just had to try it. Low & behold….it worked!! It even tasted good!! Here are a couple of recipes for this. Once is for a chocolate cake & the other is for a yellow/white cake. Enjoy.
5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE
4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk water
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug (MicroSafe)
Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well. Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well..
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).
And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!
I shared mine with my whole list cause if I'm gonna get fat you need to do it too!
Baking powder version
You can also use baking powder in which case it will be lighter (simply add 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder to each mug when you add the flour)
*I haven’t tried it with the baking powder….yet
Just finished in the microwave.
In the plate...mmmm
Here’s the recipe for a white/yellow cake in a mug. I haven’t tried this…yet.
Yellow Cake in a Mug
Ingredients
6 tablespoons all-purpose flour
4 tablespoons sugar
1/8 teaspoon baking powder
1 egg
3 tablespoons water
3 tablespoons oil
dash vanilla extract or lemon extract (or whatever flavor you would like)
1 large coffee mug
How to make it
Add the dry ingredients to the cup and stir together.
Stir in the egg, water, oil and extract of choice.
Microwave for 3 minutes (1000 watts).
The cake should rise to the top of the mug.
Allow to cool a little and turn out onto a plate.
This would actually serve 2-4 easily, but if you want to indulge and eat it all, I won't tell.
And now…a picture of Chance
She was burying her nose in the blankets on the couch.
Enjoy the cakes.

A Quick Funny
I got this in an email today. Thought I’d share.
How to Give a Cat a Pill
1. Pick up cat and cradle it in the crook of your left arm as if holding a baby.
Position right forefinger and thumb on either side of cat's mouth and gently apply pressure to cheeks while holding pill in right hand. As cat opens mouth, pop pill into mouth.
Allow cat to close mouth and swallow.
2. Retrieve pill from floor and cat from behind sofa.
Cradle cat in left arm and repeat process.
3. Retrieve cat from bedroom, and throw soggy pill away.
4. Take new pill from foil wrap, cradle cat in left arm, holding rear paws tightly with left hand.
Force jaws open and push pill to back of mouth with right forefinger. Hold mouth shut for a count of ten.
5. Retrieve pill from goldfish bowl and cat from top of wardrobe.
Call spouse in from the garden.
6. Kneel on floor with cat wedged firmly between knees, hold front and rear paws.
Ignore low growls emitted by cat. Get spouse to hold head firmly with one hand while forcing wooden ruler into mouth. Drop pill down ruler and rub cat's throat vigorously.
7. Retrieve cat from curtain rail.
Get another pill from foil wrap. Make note to buy new ruler and repair curtains. Carefully sweep shattered figurines and vases from hearth and set to one side for gluing later.
8. Wrap cat in large towel and get spouse to lie on cat with head just visible from below armpit.
Put pill in end of drinking straw, force mouth open with pencil and blow down drinking straw
9. Check label to make sure pill not harmful to humans and drink one beer to take taste away. Apply band-aid to spouse's forearm and remove blood from carpet with cold water and soap.
10. Retrieve cat from neighbour's shed.
Get another pill. Open another beer. Place cat in cupboard, and close door onto neck, to leave head showing. Force mouth open with dessert spoon. Flick pill down throat with elastic band.
11. Fetch screwdriver from garage and put cupboard door back on hinges. Drink beer. Fetch bottle of scotch. Pour shot, drink.
Apply cold compress to cheek and check records for date of last tetanus shot. Apply whiskey compress to cheek to disinfect. Toss back another shot. Throw tee-shirt away and fetch new one from bedroom.
12. Call fire department to retrieve the damn cat from the top of the tree across the road. Apologize to neighbor who crashed into fence while swerving to avoid cat.
Take last pill from foil wrap.
13. Using heavy-duty pruning gloves from shed, tie the little *&#%^'s front paws to rear paws with garden twine and bind tightly to leg of dining table. Push pill into mouth followed by large piece of filet steak. Be rough about it. Hold head vertically and pour two pints of water down throat to wash pill down.
14. Consume remainder of scotch. Get spouse to drive you to the emergency room. Sit quietly while doctor stitches fingers and forearm and removes pill remnants from right eye. Call furniture shop on way home to order new table.
15. Arrange for SPCA to collect mutant cat from hell and call local pet shop to see if they have any hamsters.

A Mish-Mash of Pictures
I realized that I haven’t posted a blog in quite awhile now. This blog is a combination of a lot of different pictures. Let’s start.
This morning, when I looked outside, the fog was heavy. The trees were covered in frost. What a good opportunity for some interesting pictures. Here’s the result of the pictures that I took.
The backyard.
Trying to take a close up shot of a branch.
Looking up at a frost covered tree. Nice effect.
Another close up of a branch.
Still another close up of a branch. Very hard to get a good shot.
This is the choke cherry bush that’s in the yard. It’s pretty much buried in the snow.
Next, we have a few pictures of the deer that are being fed on the yard. It’s a pretty good Christmas pictures, as they are standing under a decorated arch.
We’ve been watching these 2 specific deer, since just after they lost their spots. It’s nice to see them all grown up.
Christmas came & went. The weather wasn’t too bad. Pictures were taken, but not necessarily getting posted here.
Next, we have pictures of Chance. There always has to be some pictures of her.
A close up shot of her.
Cuddling with her blankie.
Cuddling with here blankie. She was snuggling it a lot that day.
Another close up shot of her. She really didn’t want to have her picture taken. She wanted to sleep.
Relaxing half on the couch, half on the ottoman. She loves relaxing like that.
This is Chance’s Christmas card. It was sent to some of her online doggie friends.
Here she is, really comfortable. She actually sleeps like this.
Relaxing on her couch, snuggling with her blankie.
I made a photo Christmas card of Marty & myself. This is the result.
That’s all the pictures, for this time. Now, about our weather. It’s been quite cold here since just after Christmas. We’ve hit the –40C mark a few times. We’ve gotten quite the amount of snowfall. Snow has to be cleaned at least once a week. Hopefully, not much more will be acquired, but that’s likely not going to happen. The weather is once again going to turn cold. Let’s hope that it doesn’t stay so cold for too long. That’s all the news there is for now. Hope you enjoyed the pictures.
