5 Minute Cakes in a Mug

I was sent a recipe to make a chocolate cake in a mug.  It seemed so silly, that I just had to try it.  Low & behold….it worked!!  It even tasted good!!  Here are a couple of recipes for this.  Once is for a chocolate cake & the other is for a yellow/white cake.  Enjoy.

5 MINUTE CHOCOLATE MUG CAKE

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons cocoa
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk water
3 tablespoons oil
3 tablespoons chocolate chips (optional)
A small splash of vanilla extract
1 large coffee mug (MicroSafe)

Add dry ingredients to mug, and mix well.  Add the egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in the milk and oil and mix well..
Add the chocolate chips (if using) and vanilla extract, and mix again.
Put your mug in the microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but don't be alarmed!
Allow to cool a little, and tip out onto a plate if desired.
EAT! (this can serve 2 if you want to feel slightly more virtuous).
And why is this the most dangerous cake recipe in the world?
Because now we are all only 5 minutes away from chocolate cake at any time of the day or night!
I shared mine with my whole list cause if I'm gonna get fat you need to do it too!

Baking powder version

You can also use baking powder in which case it will be lighter (simply add 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder to each mug when you add the flour)

*I haven’t tried it with the baking powder….yet

In the plate...mmmm

Here’s the recipe for a white/yellow cake in a mug.  I haven’t tried this…yet.

Yellow Cake in a Mug

Ingredients

6 tablespoons all-purpose flour

4 tablespoons sugar

1/8 teaspoon baking powder

1 egg

3 tablespoons water

3 tablespoons oil

dash vanilla extract or lemon extract (or whatever flavor you would like)

1 large coffee mug

How to make it

Add the dry ingredients to the cup and stir together.

Stir in the egg, water, oil and extract of choice.

Microwave for 3 minutes (1000 watts).

The cake should rise to the top of the mug.

Allow to cool a little and turn out onto a plate.

This would actually serve 2-4 easily, but if you want to indulge and eat it all, I won't tell.

And now…a picture of Chance

She was burying her nose in the blankets on the couch.

Enjoy the cakes.

  1. Shhh! Don't want to wake Chance! How 'bout if I whisper? There. That's better. What a sleepytime gal that pupkin of yours is! I can almost see the Sugar Plum Fairies dancing in her head! And what a cool cup of cake you bake! I'm headed to the store in a few minutes, as I got everything I need to "brew" one, but the chocolate chips. Thanks for the treat idea. Cake just happens to be one of my favourite Food Groups! (Why that goofball Michelle "Overrated" Obama didn't include it in her dang "Plate" adventure I'll never know. LOL!) Great week to you, RottieGirl!
